Troubleshooting the Roadshow Project

State Map Extents:

If there is a problem loading an .odb, all the state extents need to be remade. Do not remake state maps unless there is no active .odb. Unload it first.

If there is a problem unloading an .odb:

Check the view name, then make sure there is an .odb with the same name in the dm_cd\map_extents folder.

If there is, and it still won’t unload, try just loading another .odb and accept any error messages.

If that doesn’t work, select all graphics and delete them, then try to load another .odb

Last resort: New Project, load the view .odb in utilities\support, remake state extents.

To remake state extents .odbs

• Check the work directory – should be drive:\dm_cd
• make sure the state map extents shapefile has no selection active.
• Make sure no .odb is loaded
• Remake all state map extents (Menu option)

Processing the digitized files:

Make sure all the necessary attributes are filled in the digitized files

Project boundaries – project, gridtype, traptype

Delimiting grids – gridtype traptype

Treatments – blockname, trttype

Make sure no .odb is loaded and the view is projected to albers8.

The first time the roadshow is run after an update from the model, use the quality control menu to clean the ppa_action polygons.

Check the ppa_actions.shp table. The indpriori field should not have an alias. The values in the indpriori field should be 2.2 format. If there are values over 12, then there are problems. Alexei’s ppa priority values don’t go over 12 (this value should be checked before each roadshow– just check the .dbf of the abyss\sts\mm01\decmodel\outputs\ppa.shp) There can be a priority field in the table. The values should be integer values of the indpriori field (indpriori * 100 = priority field). Values in the priority field should not exceed 1200.

Run the processing option under the Roadshow menu –

There will be error messages relating to the VAT table, a set of two error messages will appear 3 times. This does not inhibit the running of the process, just click OK when they appear.

Once the process completes –

Check all the attribute values in allgrids and treatments before selecting out the state data and creating new files for the cooperators.

For Treatments:

• intersect trt02_sts_latlong.shp with the state_agency theme- this will create a new shapefile.
• In the new shapefile, select all treatments with an Agency value equal to the state cooperator’s agency. Steps a + b will be automated into the processing soon.
• Project the selected treatments to the state’s preferred projection using STS_Projector.

• Select polygons with a State value equal to the state cooperator’s.
• Project the selected polygons from Lat/Long to the state’s preferred projection using STS_Projector.

For the editing shapefiles:

• Pjtbnd02_attribs.shp
• Delim02_attribs.shp

Both files need to be converted to new shapefiles that will be stored in abyss\\dm_cd\output. Add projection (dd) and date to each shapefile name, delim02_attribs_dd_101101.shp. If a connection to abyss is not available store these files on the local computer under dm_cd\output. The new shapefiles (and all their corresponding files - .shx, .dbf, etc.) need to be added to a new zip file called projectbounds_delimits_4editing_<date of the roadshow>.zip and stored on the ftp site under the project\gis_files directory.
